Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters is the second book in the Percy Jackson series. In this book Percy is enjoying his last few days at school before he goes to camp Half-Blood. Suddenly at dodge-ball in gym, some kids turn into ogres. Percy fights them to protect his friend Tyson. He kills all of them but one remains. He throws a flaming ball made of celestial bronze (a metal that is deadly to demigods and monsters made in Mt. Olympus, Percy's sword is also made out of celestial bronze) at Percy. I think the next part is pretty surprising and you might not understand it but if you keep reading you will understand! Tyson gets in the middle of the two and catches then throws the flaming metal ball.
Just then Annabeth pops in. She brings Percy and Tyson to camp Half-Blood. Then they see Thalia's pine (Thalia was a daughter of Zeus who was friends with Annabeth and Luke who were trying to get to camp but a lot of monsters were following them.Thalia sacrificed her life to save her friends. Her dad Zeus turned her into a pine tree when she was about to die that created a magical barrier that protects camp) dying. It looked like someone poisoned the tree. With the tree dying, monsters could get into camp more easily. Percy wants to go on a quest to save the pine tree by getting the golden fleece (a magical golden cloth which can heal anything) but the directer of camp gave the quest to Clarrise. Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson, who turns out to be an Cyclops, decide to go anyways. At the end of the book they get the fleece back but the magic is so powerful it heals Thalia so she turns human.
I like how the book is as funny as the first book in this series. And of course the chapter titles are funny too from: "Demon Pigeons Attack" to "We Hail the Taxi of Eternal Torment" to "Tyson Plays with Fire" to "The Party Ponies Invade" you just have to laugh at the chapter titles. I also like how Rick Riordan seamlessly inter-vines the regular and crazy demigod worlds together. I think Rick Riordan is a really good author and that you should read his books.

This is by far my favorite book and all time favorite series. I loved the book and the movie. Nice writing!
